1. Vendredi (FungaFuFu)

Fungafufu is actually a team blog, but no one besides Vendredi seems to post…ever. Vendredi offers medium length analysis that is academically-oriented but without the jargon and inaccessibility. It’s still a bit hard to wade through in the sense that the subject matter itself is very abstract (like analyzing religion or the functions of different mediums); it’s not like his posts have taken seemingly mundane aspects of popular shows and deconstructed them to death. Still, his posts are enjoyable, when they show up. He doesn’t post a lot.

2. Kibou (Polymetrica)
blogging since: July 2009*

Kibou has actually been blogging on Tumblr since October 2008, but has shifted around his Tumblr and WordPress blogs. His wordpress blog focuses more on anime-related stuff. She mostly discusses pixiv artists and doujin vocalists, two relatively niche blogging topics that really deserve a larger audience. He’s a fantastic gateway to artists in Japan, since he is, to my knowledge, fluent in moonspeak. I don’t know why he’s not in scamp’s aniblog tourney – polymetrica is a labor of love, and one of my favorite blogs.

3. IWICSYI (I Wish I Could See Your Insides)
blogging since: January 2009?

IWICSYI actually used to be (or still is?) a team blog made up of maybe like, 4-6 members. Around March 2009 maybe the members started to use the same name, and thus IWICSYI was born. IWICSYI takes on the editorial style, rarely doing boring episodic posts. Thoughts are shared…usually they’re brief and dumb in the baka-raptor sense, but still funny. But not as funny as baka-raptor. Maybe it’s like baka-raptor lite, with more of a focus on currently airing stuff (BK’s stuff seems more thematically-oriented).
