Chitose is like evil Chihaya.
Well it was a re-cap ep this week which kind of makes sense as we are at the half way point and need a few small reminders. Thankfully they laced it full of omake to keep things from getting too boring. For the most part the jokes were pretty good and there was oh so much shipping ammunition used up. For the Taichi shippers I suggest you take your lumps and write a crappy fanfic where Taichi wins, its official Chihaya is more into girls and karuta than Taichi. I know this is a an utter shock to losers like Michiru, but you know what… welcome to the 21st Century and in the 21st Century we do not tolerate discrimination based on sexual orientation so keep your backward prejudice to yourself. Still congratulations to Chihaya for coming out the closet and confessing her love for Kana-chan.
Kana-chan is a very popular girl I guess that night with Kana-chan was more special than any of us realized. Desk-kun and Nishida are on a collision course in an effort to woo Kana-chan (though I fear possibly in vain). If somehow Kana-chan and Chihaya are not meant to be and Chihaya ends up with Shinobu, then I wish all the best to Nishida who isn’t shrinking from his feelings, Desk-kun is doomed though, he has no shot. Desk-kun should just take his pair the spares ship with Nishida’s sister she was brought in for this purpose and I doubt Desk-kun has enough guile to outwit that stalker. Moreover I’d rather not have Nishida F-Type go yandere and harm Kana-chan. I am glad however that they had the heart to tell Taichi that it was IMPOSSIBLE for him to be with Chihaya, not only does he lack the skills in karuta but now we know Chihaya is one with the yuri. Moreover Chihaya would choose karuta over him every time.
For Taichi things aren’t all bad because now that we know a little more about Chihaya’s nee-sama, Chitose, I just figured out how Taichi can have his ship not sink. Given that Taichi is willing to settle for something less with his second place attitude he should be more than comfortable with settling for Chitose. Yes, Chitose is older than him and not as radiant as Chihaya, but since Taichi has little to offer other than looks and money, Chitose is a perfect fit because she is vain and greedy. They will get along famously and that way Taichi need not feel inferior and struggle anymore in karuta which he doesn’t really love. So Taichi time to come to terms with reality, you will never master karuta the way you are and Chihaya will never look upon you with loving eyes she reserves for Kana-chan. You belong with Chitose, you know it, I know it, and everyone else knows it. It won’t be so bad you never loved Chihaya as person anyway and appearance-wise Chitose is not that far off.
I am not sure what they are going to do next week but in the end this recap episode was funny enough where I did not lament it.
Hey Taichi you hear that you can buy Chitose's love... it's like you were made for each other.

Also, Tsukue sounded a lot like Mihashi in this epi, and I agree he makes a lot more of a charmer than Taichi.
Watching the episode again it seems pretty clear that Nishida’s sister is younger than him.
He’s called ‘onee-san’ at least two times, the first time when Nikuman explains where does he get his t-shirts from (‘ore no onee-chan’) and the second when Taichi asks him if he’d explained his ‘onee-san’ how karuta team order works.

Hm, all jokes aside, I would love to see Chihaya come out of the closet and be all happy with Shinobu, but I guess that sort of outcome doesn’t really fit in this show. Shame, too, because it would’ve been awesome.
Nothing is impossible besides Chihaya seems oblivious to Taichi’s tippy toe advances.
I honestly have no idea how they can possibly sell the idea of Chihaya and Taichi together. It’s already the halfway point, and as you say, Taichi hasn;t made any progress on that front whatsoever (not that I want him to). But maybe it’s no coincidence that they chose the same filler/recap episode to demonstatre both how greedy and shallow Chitose is and how Taichi is loaded and apparently wouldn’t even have a chance of scoring with Nishida’s sister. Them being together is the only logical conclusion.
They have enough time to try and since the manga has not concluded Taichi has a shot outside of the anime. Still they could try and force it. Maybe we will get Taichi wavering between Chihaya and Chitose.

LOL seriously speaking, I don’t mind when people dislike characters I like. Come to think of it, Taichi deserves a lot more crap than what he’s getting. In his defence, he is a complex character. I like the main trio equally and thought their bond with each other was very special. I would hate to see Chihaya pair off with either of the guys, although if she had to pick one, I’d vote Arata over Taichi. This episode was good because I love me some yuri. ChihayaxKanade or ChihayaxShinobu, I don’t care which, I hope she jumps one of them.

Daww, always nice seeing chibi chihaya and friends! Odd/ slightly disappointing to see an epi made up almost entirely of filler, but, as you say, the omake was cute and funny for the most part, so I enjoyed it too. (And yes, I only just saw it, lol/ orz.)
