It’s been a rough weekend for me but at least Rinne no Lagrange is still happy and genki as ever. While I am sure that the possibility exists that Moid is the evil final boss so far all we have is that he has his eyes closed. Still I have faith in Lan that she is doing the right thing. As I suspected Lan is a princess and her presence on Earth indicates that that L’Egalite is losing the war against Demeteria. It seems clear that there is a tragic fate for those who achieve memoria with the Voxes, and while Lan is afraid it seems that for her it was something she still had to do out of duty. Fact is I don’t think that Lan was really responsible at all for giving this fate to Madoka as I suspect that Madoka had already achieved memoria with Vox Aura (Midori) when she almost drowned ten years ago. Where I think Lan did feel guilty was that she was a princess who had failed in her duty to accept her fate and pilot Vox Lympha in a time of need.
I am curious as to what Lan’s take on the Voxes is going to be as it seems clear that the Voxes hold immense power and that power comes at a cost. Demeteria seems to want the Voxes as either weapons of conquest or as a means to save their world from dying. Array gave us the old story about how the Voxes are demons who bring about the end of times, but if that is true why does Izo see them as weapons of conquest and Kirius see it as a means to save his world? I suspect that while Array isn’t wrong about the Voxes’ potential it is hard to picture Lan destroying stars, and Muginami spewing darkness. I have every reason to believe that Madoka can tear the heavens asunder, but again Demeteria isn’t trying to avert the doom of the universe rather they desire the power of the Voxes and are willing to use violence as a means to attain them.
Bishie as Kirius is his vain attempt at negotiation was half-hearted at best since he started making demands at sword point and so offended Madoka that regardless of what he said Madoka did not take kindly to Kirius’ smug superiority and calling her problems a small matter. Even if Demeteria is not interested in harming the Earth or its populace, he is not above hurting them to get what he wants. I have to hand it to Madoka for being and upstanding citizen and minimizing the damage to her beloved home town. All the better that her skills at softball and kendo once again showed themselves. Campy as it was at times I loved how she was batting away vending machines as she was fighting Kirius while singing her Jersey Club Theme. I am not sure how Madoka will take her fate when the time comes, but I hope that her Jersey Club attitude will carry through since her desire to protect Kamogawa is sincere and she neither has little regard for personal gain nor is she overly concerned with her personal safety.
I think Lan was telling the truth when she said she was here to protect Madoka and the other Voxes. Her guilt largely stemmed from the fact that she was a non-factor and that Madoka had to shoulder the burden that was supposed to be hers. As for Moid I think he is hiding the fact that L’Egalite is on the ropes and the he isn’t wrong when it comes to stating that if Demeteria possessed the Voxes that they would be a greater danger than they are now. I suspect that L’Galite was in possession of Vox Lympha and possible Muginami’s Vox and Lan’s family was responsible for safe guarding them. It is clear that Demeteria is after them though to what end is anyone’s guess, what is clear though is that Array is seemingly alone is fearing their power, if that can be taken as truth because he did fight for a faction that wanted to unlock their power not seal it away.
I don’t think that the Voxes themselves are inherently evil as even Array’s story indicated that a tainted heart was needed to the demons to arise. I hope that Rinne will adopt the point that the mecha is only as just or evil as the pilot who uses the mecha. After all Mazinger Z could be a god or a devil, and that always makes things more fun. If nothing else things should be better now that Lan is a factor and we shall see if Muginami is going to take her Vox and start spewing darkness. I think that for Lan and L’Egalite while the fate of those who achieve memoria is not a great one I suspect that for them it is still necessary if only to ensure that Demeteria cannot use them as weapons of conquest. Perhaps it is deeper than that and that for Lan it is also necessary to help seal away their power as the Voxes can’t be destroyed easily. That remains to be seen though as Kirius and Izo barely putting a dent on Orca and Midori had more to do with their desire to capture them intact than anything else. Given all the talk from Izo and Kirius about the academy on Demeteria it seems that Demeteria is possibly a much more militarized society and if Kirius, Izo, and Array are good measuring sticks it seems that there is a Manifest Destiny at work in Demeteria.
I am looking forward to next week as it is a much more preferable alternative that to hear the East Coast Media overhype the upcoming Super Bowl and put the entire NY Giants roster into the Hall of Fame in Canton while expelling every non-East Coast player and boot Dan Marino and give his spot to Mark Sanchez.

So Lan is a princess after all... Also you don't need to be so harsh because in this case anger is the enemy of instruction...

My suspicions were correct Earth is of no strategic importance or value...though Madoka is the most sought after girl in the universe.

Good to see that Madoka is one of the few mecha pilots out there that actually cares enough to prevent collateral damage.

I wonder if it is just her own fear of death or a fate worse than that. Still there is no nobility without obligation.

It's not song for the ages but it certainly does bring pain to her enemies and you can't ask much more from a battle hymn.

You asked for help Madoka gave you her help with out hesitation or any selfish thoughts. We on Earth call this love.

My name is crazydave and LanxMadoka is my favorite ship of the season(I think)~
Certainly the future is looking up for those two.
Still a very strong anime. I love the light-hearted tone, although the ending put a little spin on it. Not that I expect the main protagonist being named “Madoka” being bad, y’know….
Don’t you go there don’t you go there…
Space Bishie Academy should really consider including a course on negotiation on their curriculum.
Well, at any rate, this episode was a MASSIVE step up. I was genuinely awesomed by it. With this suddenly being amazing, Space Pirates showing real potential and Nichibros being hilarious, Winter 2012 is certainly shaping up to be the Season of Suprises. JERSY CLUB SPIRIT!
Winter season is looking better by the week, I hope this continues.
You really are pulling hard for dem bieshies…
Even bishies are entitled to a proper education.
But seriously, if that Kirius guy is usually in charge of handling diplomacy, I’m not suprised that there’s a war on.
No one’s entitled to anything to anything in life be honest. But what is this are you jumping off that Heroic Bishie bandwagon so soon?
Ha. Maybe. I still like them, I guess. But I think I’m more on the fence now thanks to Kirius catching an Idiot Ball the siize of the Milky Way and our heroes getting a massive upgrade from last time. And a slogan that’s more badass than it should be. JERSY CLUB SPIRIT!
We shall see if Muginami is Jersey Club Material or if Madoka can teach her the Jersey Club Way.
I cannot believe how easily I am falling for Madoka. It’s Chihayafuru all over again. Nothing like ending an episode with two cute girls giving their legendary mechas cute names. And dat Lan end card. Omg.
This is insane. This is fanservice without making me feel cheapened. I can actually watch this in public, unlike Nisemonogatari ( ´_ゝ`)
Also I must start making gifs of all of Madoka’s Maru’s.
It’s not blatant with the fanservice and it does demonstrate a superior grasp of how to strategically show skin.
You can have a Maru gallery by series end, I certainly encourage you to DO IT.
Kiriu beign baffled by Madoka ‘techniques’ is an hilarious exemple of the fact that ‘the best swordsman doesn’t fear the second-best swordsman, he fears the worst swordsman because he has no idea what the hell he migh try !’
When Lan decided for the name ‘Orca’ I admit I thought for a moment she was channeling the spirit of Osaka (who if my memory serves is strangely knowledgeable in sea-related stuff)…
And how can one not admire Madoka dedication to her town. Truly a commendable mindset. Even if an idol carrer is forever out of her reach (unless there are mute idols ?) she will always have a place reserved at the local information office.
Yeah it is better to have Madoka live for something other than herself. Hopefully Kirius will continue to fear Madoka’s unique brand of combat, I am just waiting for the steel cage match.
Despite how nice this episode was, I hope they never have Madoka singing again. My ears, they bleed.
I have a feeling that it might come up at some point later since the Jersey Club will never die. Maybe next time it will be a duet with Lan.
PHILISTINE
The singing brought manly tears to my eyes. IT WAS GITS:STA 2ND GIG TACHIKOMA GLORY ALL OVER AGAIN
Agreed. The singing was glorious. Long live the Jersy Club.
