Amagami SS+ episode 10 – Best Couples

Got a bit behind, so I’m going to make this post a bit short so as to have the episode 11 post up shortly. So light on the recap, mostly my thoughts on the episode and events. Sae’s arc ended last week on a pretty good note. Junichi making a documentary/reality show out of the school festival wasn’t a bad idea. At least he got to do something without undermining Sae’s authority by directly intervening. Things ended on a pretty nice note for the couple too, showing once again that the comical narrator approach to the Sae arcs doesn’t limit the extent of the romance.

At least the ramen wasn’t speaking to him.

Your fairy god-Jouji is just being tough on you because he cares.

I…sorry. Teeth brushing will never be the same again after Nisemonogatari.

Is Ayatsuji Tsukasa gonna have to choke a bitch?

Poor Umehara. You really deserve your own OVA episode. In fact, Umehara should get his own SERIES! Amagami SS Alternate: where Umehara is the protagonist and Keiko, Takahashi-sensei, Hibiki, and Kanae have their own arcs. FUND IT!

So, while Junichi+ hasn’t been that great even by Junichi Mk. I-VI standards, at least he took the initiative and used his imagination here. He was wracking his brain for ways to keep Sae’s spirits up during all the work of planning the festival, and with his incredibly silly films he found inspiration. Hey, at this rate, he might actually shoot something worth watching! They had a few sweet moments together, culminating in the kiss on the night of the festival. It wasn’t the best romance I’ve ever seen, but it wasn’t bad, it just felt like it needed a little more something. But as I said, it was sweet in a way that’s unique to the Sae arcs. The flash-forward at the end was kinda nice too, though the focus on how many kids they had together feels like Government of Japan propaganda to try and get people to actually have kids and keep the population from its continuing downward demographic slide into oblivion. Aside from the main couple, I appreciated how the secondary characters were used. Tsukasa had some fun moments when she tried to avoid the camera, but she also had a nice moment with Junichi where she helped him recover his spirits, and even sounded a bit lonely herself. Miya and Ai had their moments too, though the best and most surprising part was Sae, of all people, playing Miya’s game and tickling and petting her this time.

And last but not least, Takahashi-sensei~ <3

Maya takes care of the important business herself.

Every post needs more Takahashi-sensei.

Can’t be caught on camera, they can use that for evidence!

Though outside, Tsukasa is the model of a student council member, having a chat giving Junichi good advice. They your heart goes out to her and how she seems to feel outside of her arc.

AWWWWWW!

And once more.

Don’t question it, Ai!

Turnabout is fair play, Miya.

Fin.

Wait, no pictures of Junichi and Sae 8 years later with their kids?

Well, I was making it a quick post so I could write the next one right after it. Beside, me not being a fan of kids or of having children, I didn’t feel especially compelled to add it, haha.
