Jin’s death is in the end no jest, while the service at Neo-Deeva was solemn and respectful, Mikage just piled on with even more dark deeds. I was give a rude shock when Mikage was the one giving Jin’s Eulogy on Altair, that duty should have been Izumo’s, but FUCKING MIKAGE. If there was any one character that wanted to be the most hated villain this year Mikage is making a strong case for himself by being that unrepentant enemy of love, and with this appalling eulogy I just found out I have yet another level hate. Bad enough the murderer is getting away with it but apparently on Altair only Izumo realizes how the whole thing was a sham. Jin maybe dead but given how it seems that Izumo is the only one with a lick of sense on Altair, I guess it falls to one old man to save his people now that Jin is gone. Mikage essentially has Altair in the palm of his hand with Jin gone he appears to be their only hope of salvation. Peace will not be coming soon as it seems that Mikage is has set his plans in motion and right now it seems that Kagura is all but unstoppable. I hope that Altair can be saved and it does look like Mikono is the person to re-establish their cycle of rebirth, however, so long as Mikage holds dominion on Altair this will never happen.
It was sad to see Yunoha blame herself for what happened and slowly lose her will to live. If you don’t feel for Yunoha you really have no heart, she just found love and in an instant lost it. I can’t blame her for feeling down, but she came awfully close to contemplating and executing a love suicide. Fortunately it was rather short as a long slide would have reduced the impact. Outside of Yunoha it seems that Andy took Jin’s death the worst, perhaps deep down he knows that Jin and Yunoha had attracted the attentions of a most vile and powerful enemy of love in Mikage. Jin’s death did have some effects although thankfully only two people deserted once it became clear that things were heating up again. I have to hand it to Andy for being a bigger man and asking Mix to leave the cowards alone. Others may run but Andy is going to stay and fight in the name of love. Amata may be slated to bear the brunt of the fighting but right now it seems that Andy is the only one with his head still on. Shrade is unhappy that he wasn’t the first to die and Jin’s death only seemed to reinforce his fatalism.
Fudo was up to his old tricks and instituted buried alive test after making Andy dig their temporary graves. While Mix still doesn’t like holes I am glad that she puts so much faith in Andy these days. It makes one wonder what kind of long discussions they had last week. Shrade was as ever first but Yunoha was an unsettling second. Thankfully Mikono was able to bring every one back from their grief and save Yunoha from following Jin to his grave. Had yunoha’s grief lingered I would have thought that she too was not long for the world. Zessica might be alone for the moment, but this episode made me feel even more for her. Amata fears being passed over and with Mikono and Kagura seemingly becoming more and more destined with each episode, there is a very real chance that Amata is going to be left behind once again. I just hope Zessica would be able to reach him in such an event, but I am glad that Zessica isn’t one to play foul even if it breaks my heart to see her love go unrequited.
Kawamor really indulged himself with his take on Kanji characters and likening Mikono to a mushroom. It isn’t the most flattering comparison but I guess for a new age hippie it’s quite a complement. While Jin was sent off with all due ceremony and a ghastly eulogy from Mr. Enemy of Love himself, the rest of it focused on the issue of death. There is something reassuring about the notion of reincarnation and to an extent Kawamori is right we are reborn after a fashion. It’s not that beautiful a thing but I’ll give Kawamori a pass for skipping over the carbon cycle and how our corpses really return to the earth. Mikono might be every one’s new mother and wishing everyone a happy birthday, but Kagura seems to still want to crush her in his arms. Judging by the PV Kagura is going to be leading them all on a chase through Neo-Hong Kong and with any luck Zessica will finally get some notice from Amata.
Zeus rest Jin’s soul, and while the day of Retribution will be a long ways off at least they kept Jin in the ED.
